New York Fashion Week: Friday 10th February

JASON WU

This was one of my favourite collections of the day. Jason Wu was inspired by China saying that his muse came from three aspects. He looked into Military China, its history such as the Qing dynasty and Hollywood China in the 1930s and yet brought these elements together to create something very cohesive.

PETER SOM

Peter Som kept his very simple and elegant alluding to upper east side New York. There was a hint of minimalism in some of the silhouettes and reference to interesting structures.

HELMUT LANG

Helmut Lang was very typical of Helmut Lang. There were the more subtle colours and plays on asymmetry, interesting silhouettes and a very grunge look.

 TESS GIBERSON

Her collection was named 'Wrap' and was about the combination and layering of many different textures inspired by the early works of Christo. She is a designer that creates what she would describe as art rather than fashion. Again, a rock and roll grunge theme emerges

DOO RI

I particularly enjoyed Doo Ri for the fantastic knitwear designs that I saw in the collection. The collection was said to be inspired by motion, in particular the Butoh dance.
